Steps to the grid

You can print the construction lines and draw on parchment paper, or you can draw the grid yourself by following the steps below…
1) At the top of the sheet, determine the position of the head and draw its conditional size using an oval.
2) Draw a vertical line across the middle of the head. This will be the center vertical line of the drawing.
3) From the top edge of the head, draw up two segments equal to the height of the head and one segment one third of its height. Across the segment boundaries, draw horizontal lines. The top line will be the upper limit of the figure.
4) From the top of the head, draw down three segments equal to the height of the head and one segment equal to a quarter of the height of the head.
5) From the central vertical line of the figure, measure and draw:
• Two segments equal head width to the left side of the line.
• Two segments equal head width to the right side of the line.
• A segment equal to half the head width to the right side of the line.
Passing the boundaries of each segment, we draw vertical lines. The far left and far right segments are the vertical boundaries of the drawing.

Step 1

Mark the width and height of the statue of liberty. Draw a circle for her head. Add a guideline to this, not forgetting to mark the size of your head. Draw a base for the statue.

Step 2

Add a line that will act as the center of the body. With short lines, define the shoulders, chest and waist. Mark facial features and neck.

Step 3

Outline the shape of the clothes and the book.

Step 4

Add more lines to indicate the folds of the tunic and mark the torch with several lines.

Step 5

Draw the hands and fingers. Outline the crown tips. Add a nose, mouth, eyes and eyebrows of the Statue of Liberty.

Step 6

Trace the largest folds. Add lines to the torch.

Step 7

Work on the figure, paying special attention to detail: small folds and flames.

Step 8

Outline the Statue of Liberty. Add some details. Delete all guidelines.
